Event: - Penang Bridge Marathon

Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM) which will be held on 20^th November 2011 is now open for Online Registration!

Thousands of marathon enthusiasts, be it amateur or professional, local or international runners, have make the running event a success every year. Since opened to public in Sept 1985, the Penang Bridge will only closed for traffic completely once a year for one occasion that is The Penang Bridge International Marathon. Having same age with the Penang Bridge, Penang Bridge International Marathon has attracted people from all over the world come together to participate in this thrilling marathon.

The current State Government has started to organize this sports event since year 2008. Last year, total number of participants reached 24,000 runners compared to 19,000 in year 2009 and 17,000 in 2008.

The PBIM comprises of a full marathon, a half marathon, a 10k marathon and a fun run opened to those above the age of 13. Full marathon category is open to men and women above the age of 18 years with a choice of open and veteran running category. For half marathon, it is open to men and women above the age of 18; while 10k marathon is divided into open (aged 18 and above) and junior (aged 13 and above) categories.

Full, half and 10k marathons are competitive and will be timed. For competitive runs, running vest, bib, finishers’ medal and certificate will be given; while t-shirts and certificates will be given to fun runners.

For this year, the dateline for closing of registration is on 20^th October 2011; while early bird registration rate is applicable from now till 30^th June across all competitive categories of full, half and 10k marathon. Normal rate will be charged thereafter. For the late comers, higher fare will be applicable if you register after 20^th October. For fun run, early bird registration fee will be offered from now till 30^th September. Normal price will be applicable thereafter. Grab the early bird price before the offer ends! Offline registration will be available in June.

This renowned event is organized by the Penang State Tourism Development and Cultural.
